Kara Triance has been announced as the new RCMP Officer in Charge for the Sea to Sky region.

Inspector Neil Cross, who has held the position for six years announced his departure in early August and will be moving into Departmental Security for the Northwest Region which includes Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

Triance brings 16 years of experience to the role, most recently the Vernon/North Okanagan region where she held the position of Rural Area Commander. She will oversee policing in the communities of Bowen Island, Lion’s Bay, Pemberton, Squamish and Whistler and has a working relationship with the Stl’atl’imx Tribal Police Service in Mount Currie and Squamish Nation Peacekeepers in Squamish.

Exact dates for the appointments have not yet been set.
