High-tech communications infrastructure is making its way to Pemberton.

Telecommunications giant TELUS is investing $5 million to connect Pemberton homes and businesses directly to it’s advanced fibre optic network. the Village of Pemberton and the local development community are also investing $250,000 to help make the upgrades a reality.

The connection will dramatically boost data capacity, providing local homes and businesses access to the gigabit-enabled TELUS PureFibre network.

In a press release the Village of Pemberton says more than 90% of homes and businesses will be connected to the high speed network, and should be online by the end of 2019.

The symmetrical service, allows users to upload just as fast as they download, which provides significant benefits for applications like video conferencing, home security, gaming and remote healthcare. The new infrastructure will also lay the ground work for 5G technology for the future.
