A 28-year-old woman has been killed in Squamish.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says Raena Henry was found dead in her home on 3rd Avenue at Main Street last Tuesday.

“What we know from the scene is that she was found by somebody who knew her, in her basement suite of her home,” explains Corporal Frank Jang.

Henry was a member of the Pauquachin First Nation.

Police do not believe her death was random, but say there’s no evidence to link it to gangs, drugs, or organized crime.

Jang says investigators are looking into the possibility that the suspect could be someone Henry knew. “That’s a possibility. We have done our homework and we’ve looked into Ms. Henry’s past… We are still looking for a motive behind her death.”

“We have conducted a significant amount of interviews and we continue to interview people that knew Ms. Henry, but we are asking for people who haven’t yet spoken with police to please come forward,” he adds.
