Whistler will play host to a G7 ministerial meeting at the end of May.

Minister of International Development & La Francophonie Marie-Claude Bibeau and Finance Minister Bill Morneau will be co-hosting the G7 Finance & Development Ministerial meeting. The conference will focus on ‘investing in growth that works for all, and financing for development’.

G7 finance ministers, development ministers and central bank governors will be in attendance at the event that runs from May 31st to June 2nd.

Whistler’s Mayor says the community already has a profile of hosting sporting events by way of the 2010 Olympics, but this takes Whistler to the next level; “important conferences and meetings now, will think about Whistler as a venue for coming [to] as opposed to just for a sporting event” says Nancy Wilhelm-Morden. “Its a real honour for Whistler to host this international conference, and I’m very much looking forward to it.”

This year’s G7 Summit will take place June 8th-9th in Charlevoix, Quebec.
