Yeah that’s just kind of how it went for the Canucks in round 1. The 2nd round of the Stanley Cup playoffs begins tonight. Let’s see how my predictions from round 1 turned out:

Eastern Conference

Rangers in 5: bang on

Capitals in 7: bang on

Canadiens in 6: bang on

Lightning in 6: Tampa won in 7

Western Conference

Ducks in 6: Ducks won in 4

Canucks in 7: F*%k

Blackhawks in 6: bang on

Wild in 7: Wild won in 6

So with 7/8 series correct and 4 right on the nose lets see what is in store for round 2.

Eastern Conference

Rangers and Capitals face off for the 5th time since 2009. Both teams have won 2 series and 3 of the series have gone 7 games. This one will too. Rangers in 7

Lightning and Canadiens in a rematch of the first round last year. Montreal swept that series as Tampa Bay lost starting goalie Ben Bishop to injury before the playoffs. Bishop is back and played his best game of the playoffs in game 7 vs Detroit in the first round. Montreal has had trouble scoring and Tampa took all 5 games between these teams in the regular season. Lightning in 6

Western Conference

The Blackhawks and Wild face off for the 3rd straight season, Chicago has won the last 2. This is the toughest series to predict for me in this round. Chicago had flashes of brilliance against Nashville but they were also exposed defensively at times and the goaltending was suspect. Minnesota took out St Louis in 6 games in a series that never seemed close. I like the Wild goaltending and they can match the depth of the Hawks this time around. Wild in 7

The Ducks and Flames face off for only the 2nd time in franchise history. No real history here but I think the Ducks will hammer the Flames. Both teams excel in the 3rd period but the Ducks depth is unreal and they seem to be on a mission. Flames might sneak out a game or 2. Ducks in 5
