Squamish’s new not for profit campground will be opening its gate on July 1st.

The Mamquam River Campground, located along the Mamquam River will be free for the first night on July 1st, on a first come, first serve basis. The 8 acre campground features more than 30 walk-in sites and over 20 drive-in sites. John Harvey, Founder of the Mamquam River Access Society the organization behind the campground says it’s a great chance for locals to get to see the site.

Harvey continues to put the finishing touches on the campground, designed as an affordable, bare bones place for outdoor enthusiasts to stay that is centrally located in Squamish. Users will be charged $10 a night to stay at the site once it is fully operational. The campground also provides employment opportunities for at risk youth.
