Two men were taken to Hospital Friday night following a violent confrontation in Sechelt.

Sunshine Coast RCMP say witnesses saw two men in an altercation and called 911. Police arrived to find the men fighting on the ground, one of whom was holding a knife.

A Sechelt man was arrested for assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, while the other male who had been riding a dirt bike was later arrested for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

In a release police say it appears the Sechelt resident took exception to the male riding a dirt bike up and down Sechelt Inlet Road, and may have tried to stop him. RCMP are also looking into a report that the dirt bike rider may have struck the other male with his bike.

Anyone who witnessed either the fight, or saw a man riding a dirt bike along Sechelt Inlet Road around 9:30 PM on March 24th is asked to call Sunshine Coast Detachment at 604-885-2266.

Both males have been released from custody on a Promise to Appear in Sechelt Court. No charges have been approved at this time.
