Multiple homes were damaged by a residential fire in Squamish last night.

Details are starting to emerge surrounding a fire in Emerald Place Estates in Brackendale on Tuesday night. The District of Squamish has confirmed that two units were heavily damaged by fire.

It was a large response from Squamish Fire Rescue with both units one and two responding, with thirty plus firefighters on scene. Fire crews will be on site today to investigate other units. It’s expected that there will be smoke and water damage to several other homes.

Fire Chief Bill Stoner says they received the call at approximately 5:30 PM for the six unit town home complex. He says they were on scene until about 11-11:30 PM. No injuries were sustained.

The Red Cross Emergency Social Services team was on scene to help with those displaced. Alexis Kraig with the Red Cross says 5 units were effected and 12 residents were displaced. Their team offered support that included food, lodging and clothing, as well as psychosocial support, helping the residents work through the situation.

Currently there’s no known cause at this time.

A Facebook group called ‘Help Those Affected By The Emerald Place Fire’ has been setup by members of the community to assist families affected.
