Relief for those affected by recent flooding near Pemberton has arrived.

Heavy rainfall and warmer temperatures caused snow to melt and flood the banks of the Lillooet River on November 10th. As a result, as many as 20 homes have been flood-damaged in Lil’wat Nation. A Disaster Relief Unit from Samaritan’s Purse is now setup at the Lil’Wat Nation band office ready to assist residents in need.

The Disaster Relief Unit is a tractor trailer outfitted with disaster recovery equipment including generators, pumps, hand tools, and safety gear for volunteers. The organization estimates they’ll be on site for a week or so depending on how many people need help.

Samaritan’s Purse is asking for volunteers to help with a number of tasks, including removing floors and dry-wall, kitchen cabinets and items damaged by flood water. If you’d like to volunteer you can call 403-831-5110.
