Whistler RCMP – Press Release

On Thursday, January 7th, 2021 at approximately 10:20 am the Whistler RCMP were requested by BC Ambulance to assist with a snowboarder who had fallen off an edge at the top of the Whistler portion of Whistler Blackcomb.

Upon arrival at the health clinic it was determined that a man, in his mid 20’s from Whistler had succumb to his injuries.  Throughout the investigation, in conjunction with Whistler Blackcomb ski patrol, staff and the BC Coroners Service it was determined that the man was in the Whistler alpine at the top of the Peak chair when he fell approximately 20 metres off a cliff.

“Our thoughts are with the family, friends, and those who worked tirelessly to try and save this young man” stated Sergeant Sascha Banks.  “As we have seen in the past few weeks unfortunate incidents can happen to the most experienced adventures…please take that extra moment, that extra check of your surroundings and ensure you have all your safety equipment.”
