Organisers of Squamish’s newest music festival say it was better than they could have ever imagined.

Co-Founder of Squamish Constellation Festival Tamara Stanners says they knew it was going to be great; “the way the crowd contributed to making it the most magical weekend ever was beyond our wildest expectations”. Stanners says almost all the musicians performing said it was the most beautiful crowd they had ever played for.

85% of attendees were from Squamish with approximately 5,500 people attending per day. An additional 1,200 kids were also given free access during the three day event.

Stanners says there was no garbage left behind after the festival, thanks to attendees, volunteers and local community group AWARE who diverted waste to the appropriate receptacles. One of the festival’s goals was to operate as a zero waste event.

Organisers also found ways to make the experience even better next year and although the event will grow, they say it will not grow to the size of festivals previously held in the community like Squamish Valley Music Festival. “We realized that we don’t want to grow it really big, because its so beautiful and comfortable” says Stanners.

This year’s headliners included Serena Ryder, Jessie Reyez and Bahamas.
