Macadamia:

Breed: Shepherd/Collie Cross
Gender: Female
Age: 1 Year approx.
Size: Medium

Energy Level: Medium, more energy as she gets more confident!

Macadamia came to WAG with all ten of her puppies, and has been a hard working mom. She has been such a good mom, but is very ready for a home of her own where she gets all the attention and love she deserves.

Macadamia came from roaming the streets, so not much is known about her past. She seems to not mind the other dogs at the shelter, but hasn’t made any close friends yet as she has been too busy feeding ten babies to make any bffs.

She can be a bit nervous of new people, so slow introductions and lots of treats are key! She is becoming more and more confident every day, and has started really enjoying going out on little walks on my own. She is good on leash, but needs some extra encouragement sometimes as all the new noises can be a bit overwhelming! Luckily she is quite food motivated and enjoys all kinds of treats and special meals. Feeding 10 babies was hard work so now that she is done nursing she has gained some weight. During her nursing phase she suffered from Mastitis, but has thankfully healed up now and is ready to be spayed in the near future.

Macadamia is looking for a home who is committed to helping her gain confidence, and a home that can give her all the love and attention she deserves! Remember, most things inside are new to her and although she is delighted to be warm and fed, she is not used to basic things like stairs, kitchen sounds and is working on getting into the car for car rides. Macadamia is a young dog with not too much indoor life experience, so her future family will need to remember to take things at her pace.

Training classes with a WAG approved trainer would also need to be part of the plan! She can’t wait to find a cozy bed to cuddle up on, and someone who will take her for all the awesome adventures she deserves!

Winnie:

Breed: Pitbull Mix
Gender: Female
Age: Approx. 1 year
Size: Medium

Energy Level: High

Winnie is a young female puppy, estimated to be around 1 year old. She has have been waiting at WAG for her forever home for over 4 months now! She was very timid and nervous at first, but has gained lots of confidence with the staff and her volunteer friends. She is super playful and LOVE running around in the yard. Sometimes she can be a bit over enthusiastic though and never wants playtime to end!

She loves spending time in reception ‘helping’ the staff whilst they do admin. Winnie will always ask for pets and cuddles, but can settle if she has a Kong or a snuffle matt. In my previous home I did not spend much time indoors so it is something she is gradually getting used to.

She loves going for walks and gets SO excited when she sees her harness. Car rides are her favourite where she gets to go to new areas and can do lots and lots of sniffing. She is working on her basic manners. She is not keen to be left alone much yet and can sometimes get overstimulated. The staff and volunteers have been working very hard with her and she is learning more every day! She does enrichment activities every day to mentally stimulate her as well as physical walks.

Winnie is around 23KG and the vet said she is “very well muscled”, so please remember she is a strong girl, who has never had any training prior to coming to WAG. She has not spent too much time around other dogs yet (aside from now WAG Alumni Penny), but with slow introductions and supervision, it is a possibility.

Winnie is looking for a calm, dog experienced home who can help her learn the skills she needs to be a good girl. She would like a person/ people willing to take things at her pace and understand her body language and how she is feeling.

Everything is new to to Winnie and many noises, smells and sights can make her nervous. She needs a family who will be understanding that they’ll need to work with her during this big life change, hire a trainer and give her time to adjust. Winnie is hoping that her forever family will be awesome humans, with lots of play, adventures, cuddles, but most importantly patience to show her the way.
