Whistler RCMP have taken a man into custody following a lengthy police operation on Wednesday morning.

The vehicle which was stolen from Alberta was “driving very dangerously in the Whistler community” says Staff Sargent Paul Hayes. The white Ford F-350 truck was first noticed driving in an erratic manner on Highway 99 near Village Gate and failed to stop for police. Officers were able to locate the vehicle on the Checkamus Lake Forest Service Road (FSR), where again it fled from police. However RCMP were able to successfully deploy a spike belt at the exit of the FSR. The vehicle then continued driving from Checkamus to Alpha Lake Park where it became stuck on the railway tracks.
