Arts Whistler – Press Release

April 14th, 2020

As a result of the continuing uncertainty regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, Arts Whistler has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Whistler Children’s Festival, scheduled for July 10 – 12, 2020. Arts Whistler will now host the 37th edition of the festival in July 2021. Cancels

The Whistler Children’s Festival is Whistler’s longest-running festival, debuting in 1983, and regularly welcomes 7000+ participants to the event.

While the current unprecedented situation prevents us from holding the festival in the “real world”, Arts Whistler is offering online arts, crafts and entertainment for kids and families at www.artswhistler.com/online. We invite you to visit us there and then share your creative adventures with us on social media using the hashtag #artswhistler.

Arts Whistler thanks our long-time Whistler Children’s Festival lead sponsors Nesters Market and TD Bank and community donors for their support. Our heartfelt thanks also to community group participants, performers, service providers and volunteers for their annual contributions. We’ll be back with a fun, creative and memorable weekend in 2021.

COVID-19 conditions have also resulted in the cancellation of our annual Art on the Lake arts workshops, held at the scenic Alta Lake Station House. We encourage art lesson enthusiasts to visit our online portal for digital workshops and other creative inspiration.

Creativity is the antidote to isolation. Visit www.artswhistler.com/online for all kinds of creative ideas, distractions, challenges and adventures during this time. We look forward to returning to our regular operations and welcoming you back to the Maury Young Arts Centre as soon as possible.
