Police on the Sunshine Coast are on the look-out for a bear with stolen property.

RCMP say they were called to Mission Point Park in Davis Bay on May 8th after a mother bear and two cubs were spotted in the area at the same time as a group of school children on a field trip.

The bears were gone by the time police arrived but had apparently absconded with one of the school children’s backpacks.

The bear was last seen heading up the creek, and police have been unable to locate the four legged thief or the stolen property.
