The large fire that begun in at approximately 9:30 am took place at an industrial warehouse that houses a commercial grow-op at 3rd and Vancouver. The District of Squamish and RCMP advised residents to stay clear of the area and keep windows and doors sealed to avoid breathing toxic smoke from the fire.

At this time only one person is known to have been taken to Squamish General Hospital with smoke inhalation.

The public is being advised to keep windows closed as crews continue to put out the remainder of the fire. The District of Squamish says air quality is being monitored by Vancouver Coastal Health Environmental Health Officers.

Chief Stoner says they will be conducting a full investigation into the cause over the next couple of days.
