Sunshine Coast Search and Rescue say they had a successful call out on Wednesday for a technical rope rescue of 4 people in Halfmoon Bay.

It took 22 team members 6 hours to remove the people from a 250 foot cliff. Apparently the individuals had become stuck in steep terrain while attempting to rescue 2 deer from the same cliff bank.

Search and Rescue say that while they understand the intentions were sincere, they strongly discourage anyone from making any further attempts at rescuing the deer, if they are even still there.

Wildlife experts on scene said the deer will make it down OK on their own.

The organisation also warned that people have died attempting to rescue wildlife in dangerous situations and that it should not be attempted. If you have concerns for wildlife you are advised to call the Conservation Officer Service, Fire Department or RCMP.
