The Conservation Officer Service says two men have been charged for illegal fishing activity in the region.

Sea to Sky Conservation Officer’s say the anglers were found on Alta Lake on March 12th. The fishermen’s gear as well as Coastal Cutthroat Trout were seized. The men were not local to the Sea to Sky corridor but were B.C. residents.

The lake is closed for retention year round and closed for fishing from December 1st to March 31st. The two were charged under the BC Sport Fishing Regulations, and fines included $250 for Fish during close time; $150 for Fish with prohibited gear and $250 for Catch and retain fish during close time.

The Conservation Officer Service is thanking the public for reporting illegal fishing activities to the Report All Poachers and Polluters (RAPP) line at 1-877-952-7277.
