The Provincial government has announced that visitors to Garibaldi Provincial Park will be able to make year-round reservations for camp sites in 2018.

Beginning January 2nd next year, visitors to the park will be required to make reservations at Garibaldi Lake, Taylor Meadows, Elfin Lake, Helm, Cheakamus Lake and Singing Creek campgrounds, which were previously only available to reserve during peak season. The exception is Red Heather campground which is only accessible during the winter.

In a press release the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy says that ‘by making sites available for reservation throughout the year, sensitive ecosystems and the surrounding environment are protected from overuse by ensuring campers remain on designated tent sites’.

Rampart Ponds, Russet Lake, Wedgemount and Red Heather campgrounds will also be available to reserve year-round in 2018. However, Red Heather campground is only open from December 1st to April 30th.

Bookings can be made on the Province’s website DiscoverCamping.ca.

Camping in Garibaldi Provincial Park is only permitted in designated campsites.
