Whistler RCMP say they successfully caught another bike thief on Sunday.

One strategy currently being used by police in the region is bait bikes. The bikes have been deployed throughout the community to combat bike theft. In the early morning hours of July 9th a thief stole a bait bike in Whistler Village.

The RCMP Regional General Investigation Section tracked the stolen bike to a residence in East Vancouver. Police obtained a search warrant and recovered not only the bait bike but other stolen bikes, including another from Whistler, and an estimated $10,000 in stolen property.

A man is currently facing several Criminal Code charges as a result of the initiative.
