Police in Whistler say they initiated an investigation following information they received of a potential threat to Whistler Secondary School on Monday evening.

Whistler RCMP say the comment was made via social media and insinuated the potential for a harmful event at the school on Tuesday. In a statement RCMP say that there was a police presence at the school on Tuesday as a precaution to ensure everyone’s safety while the investigation was ongoing.

A youth who was believed to have sent the message was arrested on Monday evening. RCMP, School District 48 and the Principal of the school are now satisfied that there is no threat. Police say all parties involved have been cooperative. Crown Counsel will now determine whether any criminal charges will be advanced.
