Whistler-Blackcomb are reporting an avalanche that occurred at the mountain resort yesterday afternoon.

In a statement the company says it occurred in an area known as Chainsaw Ridge on the West aspect of Jersey Cream Bowl shortly after 3:30 PM on Tuesday.

An investigation revealed that it was a natural cornice release above the slope.

Blackcomb Mountain Ski Patrol responded with an avalanche service dog and search teams and determined that no one was involved, which according to the release also confirmed what witnesses had previously reported.
