The West Coast Railway Heritage Park says this year’s Polar Express was a sell out, setting a record.

Gordon Bell, Chief Operating Officer of the West Coast Railway Heritage Park says; “The Polar Express has been a fantastic success this year, it’s been building for a few years but we smashed all the records this year. We’ve got about 16,000 guests coming through the turnstile”.

The annual event sees the re-enactment of the Polar Express movie, where families are invited for an hour long trip on the train to visit the North Pole and see Santa.

Bell say’s the event is the number one fundraiser for the organization. Ninety-five volunteers and staff are needed to make the event a success, and this year Rocky Mountaineer loaned a coach to allow for eight passenger coaches to carry guests.
